Every September in celebration of Balance Awareness Week and Falls Prevention Awareness Day/Week, Seattle Dizzy Group hosts our annual Walk for Balance Event at Green Lake. Everyone is welcome.
Wear Blue for Balance!
We will walk rain or shine.

This event is FREE to attend.

Details:

The event will begin with a balance-focused Tai Chi warm-up activity led by Cascade Dizziness & Balance PT to get us energized and limber prior to our 1-mile walk at Green Lake. During the walk, non-walkers are invited to mingle indoors. After the walk, we will celebrate with food and prizes.

(Refreshments including light lunch will be provided).

There will be an Information Fair throughout the event.

Giveaways include coupons for discounted and complimentary health services to help you restore balance!

(Provided by Bastyr Center for Natural Health, North Seattle Community Acupuncture, Move Beyond Limits Feldenkrais, and Capitol Hill Healing Arts Collective)

Event participants will receive a Free BALANCE Wristband!

Win a Free Drawing for event gear and other items!

(Two lucky winners will receive a $100 gift card to REI generously provided by Cascade Dizziness & Balance PT!)

We will also give Dizzy Spirit Awards for Wearing the Most Blue for Balance, Best Use of Walking Aids, and Most Dizzy Group Spirit, etc.!

Walk:

We plan to walk at a comfortable pace. If you need to rest at any point on our 1-mile walk, there are many benches around the lake.  Since we will be walking a loop (starting counter-clockwise around the lake), you are welcome to walk part of the way and then sit and rejoin us on our way back.

Walking aids are necessary for some people and they also help to make an “invisible” illness more visible to others.  We encourage you to bring your walking stick, cane, poles, or walker, etc.

Please wear comfortable shoes & in case of rain bring an umbrella.

*Non-walkers are invited to mingle indoors during the walk.*

Show Your Support/Spirit & Wear Blue for Balance!

Or, show your spirit with a Seattle Dizzy Group T-Shirt!

*A limited number of t-shirts will be available at the event*

About Green Lake:

Green Lake is one of Seattle’s most beloved parks. Its expanse of water and green space in the center of a dense urban neighborhood draws thousands of people daily from all over the city. The park serves as a natural preserve for hundreds of species of trees and plants, as well as numerous birds and waterfowl. The newly reconstructed 2.8-mile path around the lake provides a perfect recreational spot for runners, bikers, skaters and walkers.
