Every September in celebration of Balance Awareness Week and Falls Prevention Day, Seattle Dizzy Group hosts our Annual Walk for Balance Event at Green Lake. Our 1-mile walk slogan is “Walk a Mile in Dizzy Shoes.” Through this event, we hope to help create greater awareness for vestibular and balance disorders & show our support for people living with chronic dizziness and imbalance. (See also, Making a Difference for Balance Awareness).

Fifth Annual WALK FOR BALANCE Event
Saturday, September 19, 2015
12-2 pm
This event is FREE to attend.
Details:
The event will begin at noon with a balance-focused warm-up activity led by Move Beyond Limits Feldenkrais Practitioners to get us energized and limber prior to our 1-mile Green Lake walk. During the walk, non-walkers are invited to mingle indoors. After the walk, we will celebrate with food and prizes.
There will be an Information Fair throughout the event.
(Provided by Bastyr Center for Natural Health, North Seattle Community Acupuncture, and Francesca Girabaldi & Associates Massage Therapy).
Win a Free Drawing for event gear and other items!
We will also give Dizzy Spirit Awards for Wearing the Most Blue for Balance, Best Use of Walking Aids, and Most Dizzy Group Spirit, etc.!
Walk:
We plan to walk at a comfortable pace. If you need to rest at any point, there are many benches around the lake. If you arrive late and want to catch up with us, we will begin walking counter-clockwise around the lake.
Walking aids are necessary for some people and they also help to make an “invisible” illness more visible to others. We encourage you to bring your walking stick, cane, poles, or walker, etc.
Please wear comfortable shoes & in case of rain bring an umbrella.
Show Your Support & Wear Blue for Balance!
*A limited number of t-shirts will be available at the event*
Event participants will receive a Free BALANCE Wristband!
(Signs should have a balance-focused message about Balance Awareness Week, our Walk for Balance, vestibular and balance disorders, etc.)
*Non-walkers are invited to mingle indoors during the walk.*
