WALK FOR BALANCE

Saturday, September 20, 2014

11:30 am – 2 pm at Green Lake

In celebration of Balance Awareness Week (September 15-21, 2014) and Falls Prevention Day (September 23, 2014), Seattle Dizzy Group will host our Fourth Annual Balance Awareness Event/Walk for Balance on Saturday, September 20th from 11:30am-2pm at Green Lake. This year’s theme is “Walk a Mile in Dizzy Shoes.”  We strive to grow and improve our Balance Awareness Event each year and are excited to continue to make it bigger and better this year with increased community involvement. In addition to the walk, we will also have balance awareness information and interactive activities. Through this event, we hope to help create greater awareness for vestibular/balance disorders and show our support for people living with chronic dizziness and imbalance.

Please join us!

Come support a good cause, enjoy a scenic walk, and meet great people!

This is a fun, family, dog friendly event.

Invite your friends & family (all ages) & feel free to bring your dog (on leash).

Everyone is welcome.

Wear Blue for Balance!

We will walk rain or shine.

This event is FREE to attend.

Details:

Come for coffee/tea at 11:30 am. Snacks will also be provided.
We will begin our 1-mile walk at noon.
Non-walkers are invited to mingle indoors during the walk.
Enjoy a light lunch after the walk.
We will also have an Info & Activity Fair throughout the event until 2 pm.
Bring your family!  We will have fun balance activities for children.

Participate in a raffle and have the chance to win event gear & other items!

Walk:

We plan to walk at a comfortable pace. If you need to rest at any point, there are many benches around the lake.  If you arrive late and want to catch up with us, we will begin walking counter-clockwise around the lake.

Walking aids are necessary for some people and they also help to make an “invisible” illness more visible to others.  We encourage you to bring your walking stick, cane, poles, or walker, etc.

Please wear comfortable shoes & in case of rain bring an umbrella.

We hope everyone will Wear Blue for Balance!

About Green Lake:

Green Lake is one of Seattle’s most beloved parks. Its expanse of water and green space in the center of a dense urban neighborhood draws thousands of people daily from all over the city. The park serves as a natural preserve for hundreds of species of trees and plants, as well as numerous birds and waterfowl. The newly reconstructed 2.8-mile path around the lake provides a perfect recreational spot for runners, bikers, skaters and walkers.
