December 2015
Support Group Meeting – Sat, Dec 12th – 1-3 pm at Green Lake Library
This meeting we will have a Friends & Family Potluck.
This will be a fun time and a great opportunity to show our appreciation for those who help and care for us as well as a chance for our loved ones to learn more about vestibular disorders and the challenges of living with chronic dizziness and imbalance. We’ll invite friends and family to share their perspective with us and give them the opportunity to ask questions so that they might better understand what we’re going through and how to offer support to us. We’ll also plan to discuss ways to survive and enjoy the holiday season with a chronic illness.
(Note: There are no kitchen facilities).
Bring your friends and family. Or, come by yourself. No guests required.

Support Group Meeting – Sat, Nov 14th – 1-3 pm at Green Lake Library
“Biofeedback Therapy”
Lisa Eaton, DPT, OCS of Cascade Dizziness and Balance PT will share and discuss with us about biofeedback as a complementary therapy for managing the symptoms of a chronic vestibular or balance disorder.

Support Group Meeting – Sat, Oct. 10th – 1-3 pm at Green Lake Library
This meeting we will be celebrating 9 years together!
October marks nine years that we have been meeting as a support group. We will plan to share group highlights and favorite personal memories and also hear your suggestions and ideas for the future.
As part of our celebration, you will have the chance to win a drawing for a FREE Seattle Dizzy Group t-shirt or tote bag!

Walk for Balance Event – Sat, Sept. 19th – 12-2 pm at Green Lake
In celebration of Balance Awareness Week and Falls Prevention Day, Seattle Dizzy Group will host our Fifth Annual Walk for Balance Event at Green Lake. This is a fun community event where we will “Walk a Mile in Dizzy Shoes” together to help create greater awareness for vestibular and balance disorders and show our support for people living with chronic dizziness and imbalance–in Seattle and beyond.

Support Group Meeting – Sat, July 11th – 1-3 pm at Green Lake Library
“Summer Survival Strategies”
We will plan to discuss ways to beat the heat, manage summer social activities, and enjoy travel and other adventures. Come learn tips and share your ideas for having some summertime fun while living with chronic dizziness and imbalance.

“Acupuncture & Acupressure Therapy”
Steve Knobler, LAc of North Seattle Community Acupuncture will share and discuss with us about acupuncture as a complementary therapy for managing the symptoms of a chronic vestibular or balance disorder. We will also have the opportunity to try acupressure therapy.

“How to Get Moving & Keep Moving with a Chronic Vestibular Disorder“
We will plan to discuss strategies for how to get moving and incorporate exercise into our lives despite the challenges of a chronic vestibular or balance disorder. Come learn tips for how to gradually increase your mobility and activity level without overdoing it. We will also share ideas for fun and rewarding ways to improve our health and quality of life through movement and exercise.

“Massage Therapy”
Francesca Garibaldi, LMP, RMT will share and discuss with us about massage as a complementary therapy for managing the symptoms of a chronic vestibular or balance disorder.

“Chronic Illness & Relationships“
We will plan to discuss the impact of chronic illness upon our relationships (with friends, family, partners, etc.), and learn how to maintain healthy, supportive, and fulfilling relationships with loved ones despite the challenges of living with a vestibular or balance disorder.

Support Group Meeting – Sat, Jan 10th – 1-3 pm at Green Lake Library
“Helpful Strategies for Everyday Challenges“
We will plan to discuss tips for coping with various common everyday challenges of living with a “new normal” of chronic dizziness and imbalance. We will also plan to share about our holiday experiences as well as our hopes for the New Year.
