Every September in celebration of Balance Awareness Week and Falls Prevention Awareness Week, Seattle Dizzy Group hosts our annual Walk for Balance Event at Green Lake. This is a fun community event, where we “Walk a Mile in Dizzy Shoes” together to help create greater awareness for vestibular and balance disorders & show our support for people living with chronic dizziness and imbalance–in Seattle and beyond.

There will be an Information Fair throughout the event.

Hands In Balance Wristbands Walk for Balance Event 2017

Event participants will receive a Free BALANCE Wristband!

(While supplies last)

Win a Free Drawing for event gear and other items!

We will also give Dizzy Spirit Awards for Wearing the Most Blue for Balance, Best Use of Walking Aids, and Most Dizzy Group Spirit, etc.!

Walk:

We plan to walk at a comfortable pace. If you need to rest at any point on our 1-mile walk, there are many benches around the lake.  Since we will be walking a loop (starting counter-clockwise around the lake), you are welcome to walk part of the way and then sit and rejoin us on our way back.

Walking aids are necessary for some people and they also help to make an “invisible” illness more visible to others.  We encourage you to bring your walking stick, cane, poles, or walker, etc.

(Wheelchairs are welcome, too!)

Please wear comfortable shoes & in case of rain bring an umbrella.

*Non-walkers are invited to mingle indoors during the walk.*

Show Your Support/Spirit & Wear Blue for Balance!

Or, show your spirit with a Seattle Dizzy Group T-Shirt!

*A limited number of t-shirts will be available at the event*

About Green Lake:

Green Lake is one of Seattle’s most beloved parks. Its expanse of water and green space in the center of a dense urban neighborhood draws thousands of people daily from all over the city. The park serves as a natural preserve for hundreds of species of trees and plants, as well as numerous birds and waterfowl. The 2.8-mile path around the lake provides a perfect recreational spot for runners, bikers, skaters and walkers.
